Sally Stuart—1985
The Christian Writers Market Guide has been in existence since 1985. (That first print edition was only 240 pages with double-spaced type!) For nearly thirty years Sally Stuart compiled the book and watched it grow from a small volume to one with a myriad of entries. It quickly became an essential part of every Christian writer’s library.
Jerry Jenkins—2012
In 2012, the Guide became part of Jerry Jenkins’ Christian Writers Guild, and he kept the legacy going. For four editions he edited and expanded the book. Jerry is well known as the co-author of the New York Times bestselling Left Behind series of novels.
Steve Laube—2016
In mid-2016, Steve Laube, president and founder of The Steve Laube Agency, acquired the volume from Jerry Jenkins, who wanted to focus more on his writing and developing the Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild. Steve Laube is a 40-year veteran of the Christian book industry. He began his career in the bookselling arena, and his store was named the Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) Store of the Year in 1989. He then spent 11 years with Bethany House Publishers. In 2002 he was named the AWSA Golden Scroll Editor of the Year.
The next year, he became a literary agent and, in 2004, formed The Steve Laube Agency. Twice he has been named the ACFW Agent of the Year. The agency represents nearly 300 authors and has contracted more than 2,500 new books over the years. He has been inducted into the Grand Canyon University Hall-of-Fame by their College of Theology. He also serves as Publisher and Acquisitions Editor for Enclave Publishing, the premier publisher of speculative fiction written with a Christian worldview. In addition, he is the president emeritus of The Christian Writers Institute, which is the publisher of The Christian Writers Market Guide.
Lin Johnson—2016
The real work behind the Guide is being done by Lin Johnson, the administrator-editor for Guide. She keeps the website up-to-date and keeps Steve Laube in line. Lin is a full-time freelancer whose business includes editing, proofreading, training, and writing. She is the former owner and director of the Write-to-Publish Conference. The author of more than 70 books, Lin specializes in Bible curriculum and is a Gold Medallion Book Award and an Evangelical Press Association Higher Goals Award recipient.
